Our Story

It started with yarn...

While visiting a good friend in Florida a few years ago, her and her friend had a fun little craft day and showed a few of us how to create chunky knit blankets.  Florida...blankets?  Yes, it is true.  Apparently blankets are needed year round to battle the cold and then the air conditioning.  So, we embarked on learning how to knit these blankets on a beautiful lanai overlooking a canal in Cape Coral.  We each had a folding table and 6 skeins of yarn.  They slowly showed us how to start the blanket off, continue it for several rows and finish it.  Some gals really picked it up.  This gal did not.  My first blanket looked like a bad fishing net.  And it was HOT.  Standing in the sun knitting a blanket with your hands is not for the perpetually heat challenged like myself.  I still say that was why the first blanket was such a wreck.  (actually it was because I thought I was smart and went through it quickly which is a bad thing when having to count stitches.  And then there were the margaritas).

So with that I was hooked.  I made blankets for everyone who seemed interested in receiving one.  Finally I realized I was going to go broke on yarn and needed to get some people other than my friends and family to foot the bill.

I decided to rent a vendor booth at a local store called Artique which specializes in handmade gifts and decor as well curated vintage items.  But as I paid my deposit and was thinking about my booth, I realized I couldn't just have blankets.  What if they are a bust?  I have to create other options.  So, not knowing modge podge from sandpaper I embarked on adding to my crafty repetoire.   And there it began, a lot of trial and error but also a lot of fun.
